MORE ABOUT PRENATAL YOGA
Although pregnant people have been practicing yoga for thousands of years, after it was brought to the United States, many people took precautionary measures, barring the perinatal population from attending classes. And while it is absolutely true that the perinatal body has some limitations and specific needs, it is also absolutely true that pregnant and postpartum bodies are 100% capable of a healthy yoga practice!

Often times, the way we have adapted yoga in the west might not be safe for the pregnant body, or the perinatal body, but this is a very niche interpretation of yoga, and is not rooted in yoga, ancient science, and not supported by much more than the Western ego.
Geeta Iyengar, the daughter of B.K.S Iyengar (the creator of Iyengar yoga), was her father’s right hand man in helping Iyengar Yoga gain in popularity and advance. She later went on to be considered the “mother of prenatal yoga,” quite literally writing the book on how to safely implement yoga into the perinatal body, often using herself and her own body for demonstrations and photos to show how to safely adapt or develop a class to your body.

Ayurveda & The Perinatal Period
Whether you want to give a nod to the terms of an Ayurvedic practice or not, the perinatal period is such a sensitive period in our lives, and we deserve to honor and nourish it as best as we can. Sometimes we feel fully capable of doing this on our own, but sometimes even just the presence of community is what we need!
Ayurveda has a way of explaining in literal or energetic terms what is going on, and has approaches to better help, or even heal individuals.
It is a form of lifestyle medicine and treatments to take care of the body. There are Ayurvedic coaches, counselors, practitioners, and even doctors! In India, Ayurvedic doctors are college educated individuals who are able to treat patients and even perform minor surgeries.
Once considered a pseudoscience, the western-based scientific method is being used to test and understand Ayurvedic concepts and western science is even pulling from Ayurvedic concepts and treatments to advance allopathic medicine.
Throughout my work, whether it is yoga, my doula work, or just speaking with others, I often incorporate Ayurvedic concepts such as the doshas into my teachings or explanations.

Hypnobabies® Hypnobirthing
Hypnobabies is a complete evidence based childbirth education course that also teaches medical grade somnambulistic hypnosis technqiues to retrain the inner mind in a positive way which can help lessen discomort and fear from the birthing experience. With adequate preparation, Hypno-students can experience easier, more comfortable births.

-
Hypnobabies classes run for 6 weeks and are usually about 3hrs in groups no larger than 6 couples
-
The course was adapted with permission from Gerald Kein’s Painless Childbirth Program techniques
-
Over the course of those 6 weeks, not only do students practice self-hypnosis in each class, but they get a comprehensive childbirth education course including the various options and pathways that may present themselves during a student’s birthing time, and in the postpartum period.
-
Classes are typically offered once seasonally, so its best to plan ahead!
-
Access to my Hypno-friendly birth workers and professionals who help pregnant people, their babies, and their families!
